where, oh where has my summer gone?

Do you ever recall those weeks or months that feel like you've just blinked and they disappeared? Yeah - that's May, June & July for me! It feels like no more than just a blink ago that I was saying good-bye to the graduating seniors at Carolina and looking ahead to a LONG summer of reading, researching, and preparing for the coming year. Alas, I never seem to be quite as productive as I think I will be at the onset of summer. However, despite my lack of productivity in the work realm, Jon & I have managed to fit in a fair amount of traveling, party-hosting, and visiting with friends & family. That's what it's all about anyway, right?

So, here are a few of the highlights from my blink of July. My family came down for an extended 4th of July holiday & wedding celebration. While they were in town, we did the usual Duke & UNC campus touring along with catching a game and fireworks at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park and visiting a Civil War site (Bennett Place). We also got to spend some extra time with the whole extended Dickman family over the weekend.

Then, in mid-July, we ventured to Washington DC to visit some friends and caught the major sites of our capitol. We're excited now to live so close to DC (at least a lot closer than we used to be!).

Today we are off on the last of our major summer adventures. We are taking off for Copenhagen today, followed by two weeks of traveling around the Baltic. Yay! See ya on the flip-side!

I went to D.C. this summer too! My visit was brief though, only a 2-day, 3-night visit for a PR conference, but I had a blast walking around on my free time, checking out the national zoo and embassy row and eating at fancy restaurants! Yup, just goes to show I need to start updating my blog someday. My favorite part was the food - crab cakes, sushi, scallops, and more crab...mmmmm, yummmmmmmy. I've never had better seafood! What'd you guys end up eating on your visit?

Hey Julie! Looks like you're having an eventful summer. Our wedding pics will be up tonight (well, some of them). All is well here. I loved your Simpsons avatar -- it looked just like you! We saw the movie last night -- very funny. Take care!
