Pacific Northwest

Our summer on the road continued this past weekend with a trip to Portland, Oregon to visit Jon's sister and meet up with the rest of the Chase family. In addition to seeing the sights of Portland's downtown, we also spent time north of the border in Washington state (where Leslie lives). Some of the highlights were shopping in the downtown market in Portland, seeing the amazing landscape of the Pacific Northwest (including Mt. St. Helen's & Mt. Hood), and watching a one-armed man play the guitar and harmonica simultaneously. (He was one of the many "unique" characters we found in Portland.) No volcanic eruptions during our visit, but we did go hiking through an old lava tube. The weather was also a welcome cool-down from the scorching days we've been having recently in the southeast!
