The exciting world of Bridal Shows

I can now consider my life complete - well, not really, but I have now experienced the phenomenon known as a bridal show! It's a pretty interesting experience walking into a room full of brides and their moms pushing their way to the front of various booths to snatch up limited availability of photographers, caterers, bakers, etc. In general, I was surprised by how young most of those brides were! Most seemed like they were barely old enough to be out of high school! It made me very glad that Jon & I have had plenty of time to go to school, work, live on our own, and experience life before getting married. On that note, I realized how lucky I am to be marrying such a great man! Jon was one of probably 3 men at the bridal show on Saturday - he was such a great sport enduring bridal fashion shows and massive crowds with my mom & me! However, it wasn't all bad for him. He was loving all the wedding cake samples, as well as the plethora of chocolate fountains.

All in all, I feel like I made good use of my Christmas break to hammer out most of the wedding details. This picture is of Mom & Jon at the Packard Museum, where we picked out the classic car we'll be using to drive to our reception. We also found a Mennonite woman to make our cake - Yum!! I think we've signed all the contracts and hired everyone necessary for the big day. Now our task is just coordinating all the various parties and arranging final details. I'm back in classes as of Monday, so I'm glad to have the big stuff done. The semester ahead looks like it's going to be a beast, as usual. In addition to my normal work & course load, I'm teaching EDL 306 again and preparing for my job search and comprehensive exams. Should be a full semester. Only 4 months 'til graduation!

Hi Julie,

I just read your update. Very good. Sounds like it was a very productive day, and I'll have to admit, Jonathan looked good and really interested in the pictures. I'm glad you've got so much done, and that your mom was there for you. That's what mom's are for! You are very lucky to have such a devoted mom and dad. I'm glad, too, that you and Jonathan have had so many good expereinces such as school and living on your own. It will make both of you better off for it. Your lives will be more enriched. thanks for the update.

Love,

Your mom-in-law to be
