Plans are underway!

Barely 10 days after our engagement and I have already booked a church, reception site, DJ, and photographer! Us Dickman women work fast!! :) We're trying to get all the big stuff done before my parents move (in 2 weeks) to Boston for a 6-month assignment. So, I have temporarily set aside Dr. Ian Shaw's thoughts on Qualitative Evaluation and Dr. Marcia Baxter-Magolda's theories on College Student Identity Development in order to immerse myself in the finer points of wedding planning. Sometimes I think that this whole wedding planning business can be equally theoretical to the work I am studying in graduate school. There are certainly multiple philosophies on weddings out there - I'm just trying to figure out which one works for me!

Today my Mom and I spent the day in Reading (a.k.a. "The Bridal District"). I have lived in the Cincinnati area for more than three years and have only now discovered the existence of this bridalpalooza. Within one block, a bride could choose all of the attire and accessories for herself and the entire bridal party, book a photographer, meet with a florist, find a DJ, sample cakes, and make travel plans for the honeymoon! It's quite a spectacle! One could probably spend an entire week sifting through that one block! In fact, my mom and I spent nearly 6 hours there and only hit up one dress shop and one photographer! Wow - there's a lot to decide! The shopping adventure is to be continued...
