Weekend Fun

What a beautiful weekend! I made good use of the weekend by spending some extra time with friends and getting lots of wedding plans underway. On Saturday I spent the day with two of my closest friends, Natalie & Christine, celebrating Natalie's 26th birthday. Happy Birthday Naters! We had a fun girls day out - you can't beat a good chick flick and Coldstone. :) A day like this is always a much-needed break in the midst of a crazy-busy grad school schedule. Natalie is currently raising support to be a missionary with Campus Crusade for Christ at UCLA. She's hoping to move out there at the start of the new year! Christine is a graphic designer with a company in Dayton called Design Forum. Christine and I have been friends since first grade and have never been too far away from one another throughout all our years of school, including college. We met Natalie during our freshman year at Ohio as we were all heading out on a spring retreat with Campus Crusade. That long ride in the back of some strange guy's truck proved to be a fateful moment as we all began a lifelong friendship. The three of us together are 3/4 of the "Safari Sisters" (don't ask about that nickname!) of 212 W. Union - our senior year apartment at OU. Lyndsey Hulen is the missing Safari Sister. She and her husband live down in Knoxville, TN and work for UT.
On Sunday Jon and I went back to Cincinnati to go to our church, Crossroads Community Church (www.crossroadscommunity.net), for the service and go on a tour of the amazing new facility expansion that is set to open in ~5 weeks. What a cool place! We also got to spend some extra time on Sunday with some old friends from college and from my old job at BASES. In the afternoon, Jon and I went to a park up in West Chester to fly his new 8 ft. wingspan kite. That thing can really fly! You can read all the details of that adventure on Jon's blog: jononkites.blogspot.com
