Reporting Live from DC

The much-anticipated event has finally come and gone - the 2006 NASPA Conference! I'm here in Washington DC and have just completed a marathon four days of student affairs conferencing. Ironically, I finished the conference without having the opportunity to attend a single session other than the one I presented. However, I did have the opportunity to meet LOTS of fabulous student affairs professionals from across the country, sneak into some fantastic receptions and scour the dessert tables (yum!), and interview for jobs. There are some phenomenal job opportunities in leadership development out there right now. I'm looking at some exciting options on both coasts at the moment. Matt, Dave, and I also gave our first big CSP Marketing presentation on Monday.
We were quite happy with how it all went. This was the result of a project that we began about a year ago to understand how you can use marketing to improve the recruitment of diverse students to student affairs graduate programs. Sounds confusing, but it really does make sense - I promise! We're presenting the same session again at the next conference (ACPA) in Indianapolis on Monday. Welcome to conference season in student affairs! We're in DC for a few more days now to relax and enjoy the remainder of our spring break. My mom took a train down from Boston to meet us here for the week, so we're going to hit up the sightseeing before we leave on Friday. I'll try to get some fun DC pictures up here next.

Brad and I highly suggest that you and Jon move to DC. We've heard that the people there are great...
I agree! I loved DC and would love to move there. It's a whole lot more exciting than Oxford, Ohio!! Know anyone hiring in Student Affairs?? :)
