This week is a very important week in the Chase household. We just celebrated two years since sweet Mr. Dewey came into our lives. The day we adopted him was one of the best days of our lives. All who

know us know that we gush over our puppy like he's the greatest dog on Earth...but it is deserved because he is the greatest dog in the universe! Well, he is at least the greatest dog FOR US! He is such a good match for our activity level and our personalities. Before we adopted Dewey, we knew we wanted a dog that would want to play (for Jon) and would want to cuddle (for me). God couldn't have set aside a more perfect puppy for us because Dewey and Jon can play hockey in the driveway forever, then Dewey comes inside and curls up in my lap. Oh, we just love him so much! In honor of our two years as a family of three, here are some of my favorite qualities about our little buddy:
- He likes to sleep in! In fact, he is always the last of the three of us to get out of bed in the morning. This is especially endearing on the weekends when we all really sleep in.
- He snores! Sometimes it even wakes me up at night. One might not think this would be cute, but such a loud rumbling noise coming from such a small furry body is adorable!
- He likes to sleep on his back with his legs up in the air. Aside from it making for a hilarious picture, I also recognize what a vulnerable position this is for him. It shows me the immense level of trust he has in us.
- He is crazy playful, but knows instantly when we mean business. He simply needs one look or stern voice and he'll stop in his tracks with no argument.
- When I come home from work, I always get a three-way hug from Dewey and Jon. Dewey loves to be in the middle.
- When Dewey wants to play with us, he lets us know by dragging a small rug into the living room or carrying one of Jon's slippers around the house. He never destroys anything - just carries stuff around so we'll pay attention to him. This ritual usually results in me chasing him around the couch, Jon tackling him to the floor, and an all-out wrestle match to follow.
- He LOVES our neighbors, and they love him! He watches for everyone on the street to come home from work, then he waits in the driveway until they come over to say hello to him. He even has a little boy down the street that comes over most afternoons to play with him after school.
- Dewey is super affectionate. I know dog kisses aren't for everyone, but we love them! Dewey always kisses me good-morning, welcome home, good-night, and for many other random reasons throughout the day.
- Sometimes he "talks" to us. He has a sweet garbled yawn that sounds like his is trying to form words.
- He has a little whisker sticking out from between his eyes. We call it his antenna. :) That, in combination with his many "battle scars" from being a boy who likes to play rough, makes him very distinct. Dewey is a handsome little fella though!! He definitely broke my stereotype of rescue dogs.
