Happy HOWLoween!

Nothing better to put us in the spooky spirit than a ferocious puppy covered in bird blood - ah yes, it's Dewey's first halloween costume. He decided to dress up as an Ohio University football player (really, it was his idea!). His costume consisted of an OHIO football jersey, a stuffed Miami Redhawk, and a muzzle covered in "bird blood"(Jon's food coloring concoction). He was darn cute!

For those that are not located in the southeast, you may have heard that North Carolina has experienced one of the hottest fall seasons on record. In fact, it's been well into the 80's through October. However, we've finally had a tiny break in the heat wave over the last week and it is actually starting to feel like fall around here. To celebrate, we've been busting out the apple cider & pumpkins and trying to get up to speed on our fall spirit. Last weekend we had Liz & Michael over for a scary movie night & pumpkin carving. We watched "The Thing" and "1408" - thumbs down on The Thing, 1408 was at least minimally frightful. I'm taking recommendations for next year if anyone can suggest a truly scary "scary movie." Our pumpkins, however, are bone-chilling enough to terrify even the most unspookable of people.

Tonight, we had friends from our small group over to celebrate Halloween. We feasted on bat dung & goblin's blood - trust me, it was good! Jon and I have had such fun this week trying new recipes for homemade pumpkin cookies and candy corn cookies. Sadly, cookie-baking has become a quite regular part of our weekly routine. We're cookie obsessed!

After all this holiday fun, my two boys were so tuckered out that they fell asleep together on the kitchen floor.
